During our last trip to Tshiaberimu, one of our missions was to check on the abandoned patrol post of Mulango. On our way to the village, we found several children, and its is my duty as a conservationist to explain to them what our duties are and how they can help to conservate the wildlife of Virunga National Park. Unfortunately we found that local villagers have been cultivating in the abandoned patrol post. We found villagers carrying fish taken from the river, which is forbbiden. I have taken this picture and I will make the report. Later the fish and what has been cultivated is sold in the local market as you can see below.

Once reported what will be done — what can they do to help and still survive — is this just because they need and want money so the grow rice and take fish to sell to the rebels — will they then start to poach the bigger animals — I know the people must survive but the wildlife has to be saved because it is all we have in the world!
